VSA arts Tennessee is able to offer professional development training sessions for special education teachers using the VSA arts International Start with the Arts training model. In this training, educators are exposed to potential lesson plans to incorporate the arts into their curriculum. Over 52 lesson plans are provided in a training book along with resource materials and ideas of special adaptations. Professional Development for Artists

VSA arts Tennessee offers special professional development training for artists with and without disabilities. In the past, we have coordinated a statewide career forum in partnership with the Tennessee Arts Commission and a portfolio development workshops for visual artists.
For 2009, VSA is currently working to offer some workshops for performing artists in the areas of marketing, legal issues and studio sessions. More information will be available later in 2008 on these workshops.

The Department of Art and Design has a mission to prepare and produce students, who are equipped to function capably in their chosen area of the visual arts.  These areas include both graduate and undergraduate studies in studio arts, art education, and art history. They are fully accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design.
